Deep Dive—Land Rover InControl

by Client

With more focus on safety technology than ever before, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the wealth of features designed to keep you safe while you’re on the road. Land Rover is putting safety first with all the best features to keep you alert, aware, and on the right path. Not only does this automaker's suite of driver assistance systems look out for you, passive safety features are hard at work ensuring your vehicle maintains impeccable brake and traction performance. Check out some of the most impressive ways Land Rover is protecting you and your passengers on the road.

Active Safety Features

For 2019, the available Land Rover InControl Driver Assistance Features and Packages improve upon previous generations, including safety features designed to prevent avoidable accidents, as well as react to the unavoidable ones. Thanks to industry-leading autonomous driving technology, radar, and cameras, it's never been safer to drive a new Land Rover.

  • Lane Keep Assist – By monitoring the markings, curbs, and road edges using the forward-facing camera, Lane Keep Assist can notify you when you deviate from your lane. It can even make steering adjustments when needed.1
  • Driver Condition Monitor – By monitoring your driving patterns, this feature can detect when you’re inattentive and suggest that you take a break.2
  • Blind Spot Monitor – Using radar sensors mounted on the rear of the vehicle, the Blind Spot Monitor system can detect cars in your blind spot. When a vehicle is detected there by the system, it will notify the driver.
  • Adaptive Cruise Control with Queue Assist and Speed Limiter – Cruise into the 21st Century. This feature uses frontal radar and cameras to detect the traffic ahead and maintain distance as well as speed. In heavy congestion, the vehicle can automatically stop and move forward with creeping traffic.

Passive Safety Features

In addition to the driver assistance features available on many models, passive safety features are quietly working behind the scenes and keeping you and your passengers safe. Robust frames and seatbelts that work in concert with other advanced safety technology are just the beginning. Land Rover has also added systems that enhance braking and handling performance for safety. These features inspire driving confidence that can help you tackle a variety of road conditions.

  • Adaptive Dynamics – In instances of strong oversteer or understeer while cornering, your Land Rover vehicle automatically works to regain and maintain predictability.
  • Electronic Traction Control – This system keeps your drive wheels planted in the event of excessive throttle input on surfaces like ice, mud, and wet roads.
  • Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) – ABS keeps your wheels from locking up when brakes are applied heavily, making sure your vehicle comes to a stop when you need it to.
  • Intelligent Emergency Braking – This feature can automatically step in to help drivers stop in time to avoid a collision by adding additional brake force.3

1 These features are not a substitute for driving safely with due care and attention, and will not function under all circumstances, speeds, weather and road conditions. The driver should not assume that these features will correct errors of judgment in driving. Please consult your vehicle’s owner’s manual or your local authorized Land Rover Retailer for more details.

2 Driving while distracted can result in loss of vehicle control. Do not operate, adjust or view the navigation or multimedia systems under conditions that will affect your safety or the safety of others. Only use mobile phones, and other devices, even with voice commands, when it is safe to do so.

3 Please note that if any action is taken, even minimal steering, the High-speed Emergency Braking system will assume the driver resumed control of the vehicle and the system will automatically disengage.
